Meanwhile back at the ranch...

While the drywallers work on the basement project I have been back working at a ranch style home.  Previous improvements to this home include the custom mantle project.  For that project I added a mantel made of hickory wood from the homeowner's friend's tree that he had kiln dried.  The mantel had special features because it allowed the homeowners to hide wires for speakers and electric for the tv that they had hung on the fireplace.  It also will divert heat away from the tv if they decide to have a fire.  The beauty of building custom pieces is that I can build items to fit your specific needs and situation.

Before/Mid-construction: Pipes added in walls for wires to be run back to a hidden gear rack in a nearby closet and electric wires for the tv.

After: Wires are nicely hidden, tv and mantel are mounted.

Another earlier project involved removing an older vanity, adding beadboard, extra lighting, removing old linoleum, adding new sub flooring, new flooring, adding a custom-made vanity, vanity top and faucets, and a custom face frame to built-in cabinets in a bathroom.  Here are some before pictures.

After: New vanity, faucets, cabinets, bead board, hardware.  By homeowners' request left existing wall tile, toilet, and tub.

Another small project completed for this homeowner was adding in custom shelving into a closet.  This really helps with organization and efficiency.

Other past projects include a total kitchen transformation, replacing all windows, and removing the texturing from most of the walls in the house.  Later posts will include those projects.

Approximately 12 years ago the homeowners had an addition to their home.  Over time the main large room started to get cracks and nail pops in the dry wall.  For the current project we had those fixed and the walls and ceiling painted.  It is amazing the difference adding a fresh coat of ceiling paint will have on a room.  It really makes it feel so much brighter.

After: Walls have been repaired and painted a sage green and ceiling has been brightened with a new coat of paint.
